Alaska’s Native Cultures

Over the past century, the museum has acquired over ten thousand artifacts made and used by Alaska Eskimo, Athabascan, Aleut and Northwest Coast cultures. The goal is to represent the fundamentals of each culture as completely as possible, in all their depth and complexity. This is a tall order, and after one hundred years, the collection is far from complete. Today, as many older items are not available or too costly, generous donors have stepped forward to contribute very significant Alaska Native objects.
