Alaska Imagery in Advertising

Popular perceptions about Alaska--as erroneous and stereotypical as they might be--are used in the marketing of a wide variety of commercial products. The advertising in turn builds and perpetuates popular views, attitudes, and misconceptions. These items show how Alaska and the "Alaskan Mystique" are appropriated and presented.
