Off to the Klondike

In the late 1890s, news of a gold discovery in the Yukon spread wildly. Thousands made the arduous journey through Alaska, carrying the gear needed for survival. Few gold seekers broke even, and many perished, but the legend of Klondike gold lives on. Equipment used during the gold rush is rare and often in poor condition from hard usage.

"Yukon" Match Tin
"Made Expressly for the Alaska Trade," this original container represents the fortunes made during the Klondike gold rush-usually not by the miners themselves, but by those involved in manufacturing and selling the supplies needed to mount a journey to the gold fields.
